Queen Elizabeth Stks G1 3U OPEN ($4,114,500), 2000m 2:01.65
Race Synopsis: Champion mare Winx was amazing, yet again, in taking out her 25th successive win and her 18th at Group One level in winning this $4,000,000 feature in successive years. She settled back in last place in the ten-horse field after starting from the outside barrier. She was conceding the leader about ten-lengths as she commenced improving from the 1000m. She made a wide quick move nearing the home turn, produced her brilliant turn of foot to take the lead at the 200m and then drew away to score by almost four lengths in another breathtaking performance. Gailo Chop went to the front as expected, set quite a good tempo and held the lead until overwhelmed by the champion at the 200m and he then fought gamely for second after running a bold race. Happy Clapper settled back in second last place, improved along the inner nearing the home turn, went through to fourth (on the rails) at the 200m and battled on really well for third. Humidor raced back in seventh place on the rails, was shuffled back at the home turn and then ran on nicely for (4.9 lengths) fourth, while Comin' Through was a handy sixth at the home turn and did well in fighting on in the straight for (5.4 lengths) fifth.

Often heavy rain will move southeastwards today, with some hill snow. Behind this it will feel colder, with sunny skies, but blustery, occasionally wintry, showers are likely too.
